Stephanie Malloch & Rodrigo Sanchez-Rios

October 29, 2011 | San Ysidro Ranch, Montecito

The bride, in Oscar de la Renta, greeted the groom in the hills of San Ysidro.

Personalized menus were placed on top of each place setting. The couple wanted to focus on the details.

In keeping with the Parisian theme, the communal tables were set with French satin napkins, and teal-colored candleholders and water glasses.

The 45 guests filled the three communal tables.

Escort cards were hung on the branches of lemon trees outside of the three-sided draped tent.

Inspired by the citrus trees surrounding the property, the ranch’s pastry chef created a lemon-flavored cake.

The Couple
After meeting through a mutual friend, the couple began a two-year courtship until Sanchez-Rios proposed while they lived together in Madrid.

The Venue
While living in Spain, the couple chose Santa Barbara as their wedding destination. They now reside in Palo Alto while Sanchez-Rios is completing his master’s degree at Stanford.

The Party
Floral designer Mindy Rice and planner Rebecca Gigandet helped create the couple’s interpretation of the famed Hôtel de Crillon ballroom in Paris inside an elegant tent on the upper estate lawn.

The Details
For the intimate affair, guests traveled from Mexico (the groom’s family) and Florida (the bride’s). After living abroad, it’s no surprise that the couple swayed to a Spanish tune for their first dance.
