Amalie Drury & John Coyle Steinbrunner

Oct. 19, 2012 | Sedona, Arizona

JC and Amalie share a moment after their sunset vows. The bride was a vision in a turquoise-beaded Marchesa caftan from her sister Claire’s boutique Peacock in Louisville, Ky., and earrings from LuLu’s at the Belle Kay.

Estera Events made the bridal bouquet.

Succulent-studded tabletop decor

The hazelnut and dark mocha cake with buttercream frosting was baked by the bride’s sister, Olivia.

The groom’s father officiated the ceremony.

Family and friends toast to love in Sedona, Ariz.

The couple
JC, an artist, surprised Amalie, a writer, with a proposal among the red rocks of Sedona, Ariz. The pair returned to the desert four months later to be married at the groom’s family vacation home.

The details
Chicago planner Estera Events made the trip, as did DJ Megan Taylor of Fig Media. During the ceremony, the mothers of the bride and groom read an Apache wedding blessing.

The party
An outdoor dinner for 80 was held on a mesa near a small airport. The happy couple spun across the dance floor to the strains of Ella Fitzgerald’s “Let’s Do It.”
