Ghienhel Capule & Jonathan Speh

The Couple
Even though Ghienhel, who is a youth mentor at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, and Jonathan, co-founder of Pixl Digital Consulting, crossed paths via Cole Haan on Michigan Avenue (Jonathan’s dad was a longtime favorite client of Ghienhel’s), it took years before the couple actually met. Their relationship took another turn in 2012 when they, along with their dog, Ginger, took a road trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the presidential inauguration. Not wanting to leave the ring at the hotel, Jonathan fought against fears of setting off the metal detectors and mentally prepared himself to propose to Ghienhel on the spot. However, after the excitement of the parade, dinner and an evening of dancing, Jonathan was able to propose in the quiet of their hotel room with Ginger right beside him.

The Party
Among the neutral- and metallic-toned decor the Grand Ballroom at The Peninsula Chicago, the couple celebrated a unique but classic day of nuptials. The bride and groom’s favorite restaurant, Fig and Olive, Beverly Hills inspired the reception decor, with a vibe that the bride describes as warm and inviting yet romantic and sultry. The entire reception appeared to glow, thanks to a mix of tall tapers and lit-up tables that captured the romantic candlelit atmosphere the couple desired.

What We Learned
The couple reminded themselves throughout the entire planning process to enjoy every step toward the big day. They made all their decisions together, so that the day would truly feel like theirs. “It turned out to be even more beautiful than we expected,” says Ghienhel. “It was the perfect way to kick off our new life as husband and wife.”

The Honeymoon
After the wedding day, the couple ventured to St. Thomas for some sun and relaxation.
