For some couples, transforming a raw space into a setting fit for a once-in-a-lifetime bash is a daunting task. Not so for Ryan Turner and Daniel O’Connor, creative director and assistant creative director, respectively, of high-end florist StemLine Creative (Turner also owns the firm). After the pair met through mutual friends in 2012, “we quickly fell in love,” says Ryan. And after Daniel popped the question during a weekend trip to Lake Geneva Resort last August, the creative brainstorming was on.

The couple easily settled on 19 East in the South Loop as the site for their ceremony and reception. With three rooms, the space “offers a blank canvas,” Ryan says. “Design possibilities are endless, and virtually any style or color palette would work.” Ultimately, the palette Daniel and Ryan chose was a mix of white and green with mixed-metal hues.

To further personalize the space, Daniel and Ryan teamed up with local stationer Pulp & Ink to design a custom monogram that suited the couple’s modern tastes. That emblem appeared in everything from the invitations to the wedding programs, menus and a custom flower wall. Filled with white and green hydrangeas, garden roses, orchid florets and white amaryllis blooms, the wall provided a beautifully lush focal point for a ceremony that saw the couple reading their own deeply personal vows. The couple honeymooned in a fittingly lush locale: A jaunt to Kauai, Hawaii, “was the most amazing trip ever for the both of us,” Ryan says.
