Bridal Sign Up

Laura Lazzara & Zach Waldron

May 30, 2015 | Ceremony: St. Michael’s in Old Town | Reception: Four Seasons Hotel Chicago

Laura and Zachary descend the stairs at the Four Seasons Chicago.

Laura carried a textural bouquet of blush and white peonies, anemones, white ranunculus and olive branch greens.

The couple opted for a small personal cake, flavored with vanilla and lemon curd, and topped with Italian meringue buttercream.

The bride and groom’s seats were decorated with lemon leaf and hanging aver and tener signs, meaning “to have” and “to hold."

HMR Designs covered the feast tables with plentiful greenery, blush florals and gold touches.

It all started at a wedding. Zach Waldron was a groomsman and Laura Lazzara was in attendance. The two were introduced, as fate would have it, and Zach couldn’t shake Laura from his mind the rest of the evening. He found her later sitting at her table where they first met, and nervously uttered, “There’s no way a girl as pretty as you isn’t going to dance tonight.” His future bride took his hand, and a little over a year later, they were engaged during a thoughtfully planned lake-house proposal, surrounded by friends and family.

The next spring, it was their turn to wed. Laura walked down the aisle in a Naeem Khan gown. After Laura and Zach said their vows with a traditional Catholic mass at St. Michael’s Church, guests headed to the Four Seasons Hotel for the reception.

Inspired by the Amalfi Coast, Laura, with the help of HMR Designs, chose gold and steel details with a plethora of greenery as a theme. The couple’s custom monogram was carried throughout the evening with gold foil napkins and steel matchbooks. HMR even created custom pillows with the monogram for the lounge furniture. Guests enjoyed mini late-night bites like hot dogs and Oreo milkshakes, and danced through the night to music from Indigo. Shortly after, the pair jetted off to Antigua for a much-needed honeymoon after all the planning and Zach’s graduation from grad school (and before moving cross-country to Arizona in July!).

“Friends, family and even strangers tend to try to influence your wedding-day decisions. ... Do what you think is best and go with your intuition as a couple,” says Laura.
