Bridal Sign Up

Marissa Bangura & Karl Williams

May 2, 2015 | Ceremony & Reception: Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas

Marissa, in a fitted lace Pnina Tornai gown from Kleinfeld Bridal in New York, shares a moment with her Armani-clad husband, Karl, after their nuptials.

The bride added a pop of color with the vibrant red soles of her Christian Louboutin heels.

The timeless florals from the pros at Jackson Durham showcased hydrangeas and garden roses in a clean, neutral white, ivory and cream color palette to accent the reception’s decor.

When planning her wedding, Marissa wanted to create a classy, elegant affair with a major wow factor. “I decided to keep the colors warm and neutral and timeless with a lot of bling,” explains the bride.

While on a romantic trip to Paris, Marissa Bangura had the sneaking suspicion a proposal was imminent. “Every day in Paris I would wake up extra early and get my hair and makeup done so I could look perfect for the moment,” recalls Marissa. But it wasn’t until after they were back home in Texas that Karl Williams got down on one knee. “We got home [and] the next day I woke up to make breakfast (pajamas, hair all over the place, no makeup), and—bam!—he asked me to marry him!” As the big day drew near, Karl’s two daughters were ecstatic about welcoming Marissa into the family. “They kept asking us when the wedding would start and if they could help us prepare,” gushes Marissa. “It made us know that we were making the right choice. The love they showed was unbelievable.”

As for the reception, it was important for Marissa and Karl that their guests have fun. “There was a lot of dancing and pictures, and everyone seemed to like the club atmosphere we created,” says Marissa. The most memorable moment for the bride: “Standing in the hallway waiting to be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Karl Williams. We could hear everyone in disbelief that we actually had African dancers bring us in the reception hall—huge ice breaker!”

“[Don’t] stress! Everything will not go according to plan,” Marissa cautions. “The day is [about] celebrating the love and bond you have with your spouse. So as long as you and your spouse are happy, that is all that matters.”

Following the wedding fete, the newlyweds jetted off to Bora Bora. “It was amazing! It was like a dream come true,” reminisces Marissa of her beach honeymoon.
