Britney Linsky & Stuart Hankin

December 13, 2014 | Ceremony and Reception: Mandarin Oriental, Miami

Britney looked radiant in a Vera Wang gown and diamond jewelry borrowed from her mother and grandmother. Stuart wore a sleek Hugo Boss tuxedo.

The ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami featured an elaborate floral chuppah by Xquisite Events.

The bride’s Christian Louboutin shoes had blue “I Do” stickers on the bottoms, serving as her something blue.

The place settings glittered under the romantic candlelight.

Tabletops featured luxe linens and settings by Xquisite Events, which also used tall, branch-like florals, hanging crystals and lots of candles to create a dramatically elegant reception scene. The perfect finish: delicate uplighting on the walls and candlelight on the tables.

THE COUPLE
Britney Linsky and Stuart Hankin’s families were friends for years before the two actually even met. Stuart’s aunt Carla was Britney’s father’s best friend from childhood. After college, Britney decided to move to Florida, where Carla lives, and immediately upon arrival was introduced to Carla’s nephew Stuart; it was love at first sight. Stuart later proposed with thousands of candles and rose petals spelling out “Marry Me.”

THE DETAILS
The couple chose Miami for their wedding locale, thinking it would be the most fun for their out-of-town guests from up north. After touring venue after venue, “we walked into the Mandarin Oriental, and it felt right. It was beautiful!” says Britney. Xquisite Events transformed the room into a fairy-tale space with plenty of candles and lush trees for centerpieces. The ceremony ended with rose petals showered down on guests, recalling that petal-filled proposal.

THE PARTY
The bride’s 26th birthday coincided with the wedding night, so family and friends sang “Happy Birthday” as confetti cannons blasted. Guests then moved to the afterparty catered by Shake Shack and Momofuku Milk Bar for a night of dancing and celebration.

WHAT WE LEARNED
“At the end of the day, the point of a wedding is to marry each other. Focus on the big picture: You get to marry your best friend!” says Britney.

THE HONEYMOON
The couple did a mini-moon at the Viceroy Anguilla. A few months later, they headed to Italy’s Amalfi Coast and Greece for their honeymoon.
