In today’s wellness world, longevity isn’t just a goal—it’s the ultimate aspiration. From red light therapy to NAD infusions, conversations around extending not just life but quality of life have taken center stage. And for those seeking more than the latest wellness trend, Canyon Ranch—long considered the gold standard in holistic health—has quietly introduced what might be the most comprehensive longevity experience on the market.
Trails on and close to campus are perfect for walks and runs.
Launched in fall 2024 at its flagship resort in Tucson, Ariz., LONGEVITY8 is Canyon Ranch’s most ambitious and personalized program to date. Designed to improve lifespan and health span, it is a data-driven, human-centered reboot— equal parts science and soul work.
The experience—offered multiple times per year with a small group of up to 15 participants per session—is built on eight essential pillars: Integrative Medicine, Fitness and Flexibility, Nutrition, Sleep, Spiritual Wellness, Mental and Emotional Health, Outdoor Experiences, and Strength and Endurance. Together, they form the foundation of a four-day, four-night all-inclusive retreat that blends rigorous medical diagnostics with Canyon Ranch’s signature whole-person approach.

I had never been to Canyon Ranch’s Tucson location before—I did visit the Berkshires outpost in my 20s—and its stunning, majestic presence nearly takes my breath away upon arrival. Mountains loom peacefully in every direction, while the Sonoran Desert’s cactuses and blooming plants sprout artfully throughout the resort. Low-slung buildings with Southwestern decor blend into the surrounding landscape effortlessly, and the sky seems more massive than ever.

Over the next few days, my schedule is packed. All LONGEVITY8 guests undergo 15 diagnostic tests (including blood panels, cancer screenings, genetic screening, VO2 Max and DEXA scans) that assess more than 200 biomarkers while receiving 18 private consultations with Canyon Ranch’s team of board-certified physicians, licensed practitioners and wellness experts. You’re also fitted with a glucose monitor and hooked up for a sleep study one evening.
While all this may seem overwhelming, it really isn’t. The staff are all such pros and experts at what they do—you feel very wellcared for every step of the way. One eye-opener on the physical side is the DEXA scan, which reveals my bone density is not quite what it should be for someone my age. This news may be scary and upsetting at a regular clinic or doctor’s office, but coming from my new favorite doctor, Dr. Brewer, it isn’t. He gives me several digestible tips on improving my health while never making me feel ashamed or afraid.

One huge surprise is how much I enjoy the program’s mental health and spiritual aspects. I only went to therapy once in my life after a tough breakup, and let’s just say the therapist and I didn’t jibe. Just one 50-minute session with Amy helps shine a spotlight on things that have been lingering under the surface for years. And my meeting with Adam, a soulful being who seems more comfortable with himself than anyone I’ve ever met, helps bring my purpose into focus. He asks why I am here, experiencing LONGEVITY8. When I answer—to learn how to live a longer, healthier life—he responds with something unexpected. He asks why I want to live a long life. What for? It’s a question I’ve never considered, and thinking about why—in our session and now, to this day—helps provide purpose and direction. The meeting with him helped me get to the crux of what I want my life to mean.

My four days are busy, but there’s still time to enjoy healthy meals at the newly renovated restaurant and the poolside cafe, moments to swim in one of the many pools, an incredible massage and manicure, strolls throughout the beautiful property and peaceful evenings ensconced in my plush suite. In addition to the LONGEVITY8 programming, there are more than 30 complimentary daily wellness activities to explore. The $20,000 per person investment ($36,000 per couple) includes three months of virtual follow-up.
“Longevity is the ultimate human endeavor,” says Canyon Ranch CEO Mark Rivers. “While tools and technology matter, the real impact comes from personalized insight, human connection, and a complete view of mind, body and spirit.” In a world that often glorifies youth, LONGEVITY8 offers something far more lasting: a chance to feel fully alive, no matter your age.
