An inside look at Peeled

Juicy News

by Korey Huyler | CS magazine | April 25, 2011
The newest arrival on the Chicago juice and smoothie scene, Peeled, is our new obsession. Offering delicious creations made with locally sourced fruits and vegetables, owner Keith Pegues created a one-of-a-kind menu with organic options like the Love Note (a smoothie with banana, dates, coconut milk and Madagascar vanilla), the Hot Pink (a juice made with beet, pineapple, pear and ginger) and the Bassa Nova (a breakfast blend made with almond milk, açaí, raspberries, strawberries, blueberry and granola). Items are cold-pressed and blended on-site, and Pegues even makes his own almond, cashew and coconut milks. If you’re in the mood to try a juice-only cleanse, Pegues (a 20-years-and-counting vegetarian) will work with you to create the right menu to meet your needs, usually a mix of lemonades, green juices, beet juices and something with cashew milk. Every morning, swing by the Lincoln Park storefront and pick up your juices for the day. It’s easy, delicious and a great way to clear your system of toxins. Perfect timing for the looming bikini season. 1571 N. Sheffield Ave., 312.266.7335, peeledchicago.com
