The University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation Women’s Board toasted medical advances at its extravagant Breakthrough Ball.
THE PARTY The University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation Women’s Board hosted its 51st annual Breakthrough Ball at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago in partnership with Ogilvy & Mather, Ralph Lauren and luxury jeweler Verdura. Nearly 500 Chicagoans sipped on cocktails, dined by candlelight, and bid on silent and live auction items including an incredible 18K gold bracelet from Verdura, as well as a dream shopping spree from Ralph Lauren. THE PEOPLE Event Co-chairs Elizabeth Ryan and Karen McEniry celebrated the vibrant evening along with interior designer Jessica Lagrange, philanthropist Jacolyn Bucksbaum and Women’s Board President Kristi Nuelle. THE PINNACLE After dinner, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Colbie Caillat gave a passionate performance—a fitting end to the evening as guests raised $1.5 million in support of continuing cancer research at the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. -Ally Zacek
