Giordano Dance Chicago’s Legacy Ball: Dance Through the Decades revisited history’s greatest dance styles in celebration of the company’s 55th year.
THE PARTY Saluting more than five decades of dance education and performance, partygoers at the Giordano Legacy Ball grooved through six decades of iconic music. Sipping throwback-themed cocktails like The Hustle and The Thriller, the crowd of more than 275 attendees boogied all night long, trying everything from disco to line dancing. THE PEOPLE Honoree and honorary chair Candace Jordan strutted down the staircase surrounded by GDC’s male dancers. Celebrating the beloved ensemble, Executive Director Michael McStraw joined Artistic Director Nan Giordano to announce the purchase of the Hermon Baptist Church in Lincoln Park, which will be transformed into a new rehearsal and administration building for the group. THE PINNACLE The night, full of fun flashbacks, inspired guests to raise more than $90,000 in support of GDC’s educational outreach programs for local students and professional dance educators, starting off a new year on the right foot. -Jacquelyn Lumley
