Acclaimed authors and artists provided a stimulating weekend of creativity and conversation for Ragdale’s 11th annual Novel Affair.
THE PARTY Nearly 200 creatives and literary-minded guests came together in support and celebration of Ragdale, the nonprofit artists’ and writers’ retreat in Lake Forest. The main event took place at the stunning Fairlawn Estate in Lake Forest with a reception and book signing, where featured writers, dancers and other artists mingled with attendees over cocktails.
THE PEOPLE Nicole and Ryan Peterson, who hosted the reception, were joined by authors like Carl Sandburg Literary Award recipient Eula Biss and novelist Eric Charles May. Mike Leonard, a filmmaker and former correspondent for Today, also attended.
THE PINNACLE Following the reception, 120 guests and artists went on to dinners in private homes where they carried their conversations into the night. In all, the evening raised more than $75,000 for the Ragdale Foundation, which helps to give creatives the time and space needed to pursue new projects in a supportive environment. Write on!
