Tucked under a canopy of trees overlooking Lake Austin sits this Texas-sized new build. Located in the heart of the Westlake area of Austin in Rob Roy on the Lake, this spot offers the perfect respite with close access to the vibrancy of urban living. A magical mix if we do say so ourselves. So, how did this oasis first come about? It all started with a serendipitous rendezvous in Cabo when the homeowners first met California-based interior designer Erica Bryen. And, as they say, the rest is history. The couple–retired CEO of Splunk and his wife, a singer-songwriter–tapped the talented Bryen to help design their dream home in Texas for their family of six. “They wanted a house where you didn’t have to leave if you didn’t want to,” notes Bryen of all the design details that were top of mind upon approaching this home build (taken initially down to the studs.) “They wanted it to be transitional but warm.” With a family of four active kids and a knack for entertaining, the end goal was clean and cozy, with fun details peppered throughout. From a swoon-worthy wine collection and salt sauna to bonus rooms and an uber-chic boathouse on the dock leading out to the still waters, each nook and corner of the home as been meticulously mapped for pleasure.

Designed to work off the kitchen, the living room goal was to be light and airy while still feeling warm and inviting
