Back in the early ’90s, both Yves Spinelli and I took jewelry-making at Punahou School. I adored the class, but little did I know that, over two decades later, he would become the founder of Spinelli Kilcollin (spinellikilcollin.com), a luxury jewelry brand recognized by the world’s fashion cognoscenti. Case in point: In 2012, a ring was designed for famed buyer Ikram Goldman, immediately garnering the attention of Barneys New York. To grasp Spinellli’s smart aesthetic, just take a gander at his signature Galaxy rings, which can be worn in various ways—say, spread across three fingers or stacked on just one. To learn more about what Spinelli has planned, I caught up with him when he was recently in Honolulu.
