The ninth edition of Passport to Luxury proved to be a resplendent night full of festivity.
With over 1,000 people in attendance, this year’s Passport to Luxury event at Ala Moana Center was one of the most dazzling parties of the season. With a roster of over 20 leading boutiques, Honolulu’s most fashion-conscious scenesters turned out en masse to celebrate shopping for a worthy cause.
The Center was bustling with excitement, as glamorous attendees flocked to Center Court to check in for the Modern Luxury Hawai‘i event. For a select few, though, celebrations started early at Emporio Armani, which hosted an exclusive VIP reception. Among the special attendees were chef George Mavrothalassitis—aka “Chef Mavro”—and his wife, Donna Jung, who perused the latest offerings. Also present was Coralie Chun Matayoshi, CEO of the American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter, the evening’s nonprofit beneficiary, who was more than ready to delight in the evening’s blowout fete.
With so much on offer, guests had to be strategic about their plans for the evening. After all, they had to have their Passport booklet stamped by at least six stores within two hours in order to enter the coveted finale drawing, which was set to take place at Bloomingdale’s—so the pressure was on to fill one’s signature glass with the evening’s unlimited prosecco, nibble on treats from Big Island Candies and soak in all the new spring goods on display. When finally arriving at Bloomingdale’s, guests—famished from their retail adventures—feasted on enviably tasteful bites from leading Honolulu chefs and restaurants. The gourmet repast was thoughtfully complemented by gorgeously crafted cocktails and wines from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, Young’s Market Company and Constellation Brands.
And when the moment came for the prize drawing, everyone waited anxiously to see who scored the most coveted giveaways: Alaska Airlines tickets for two, an Ala Moana Center Shopping Spree gift card for $500, a luxurious overnight package at The Modern Honolulu with dinner for two at Ravish restaurant, a Bric’s suitcase set from Bloomingdale’s and a three-month membership for the Honolulu Club. -Nuy Cho
