Star chef Michael Mina hosted a cadre of Honolulu foodies at a private tasting event for his newly opened concept eatery, The Street.
THE PARTY Michael Mina’s The Street was packed with delighted diners for his opening party. With 13 restaurants in one space, the concept brings together the electric excitement of hawker-style eating and the refined luxury of chef-driven cuisine. THE GUESTS Notable attendees included state Sens. Brickwood Galuteria and Glenn Wakai and state Rep. Richard H.K. Onishi, who bumped elbows with waterman-model Austin Kino and influencer Anna Sachs. THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests shared plates, snapped photos and sampled the offerings while chatting with the chefs. Acclaimed pastry chef Michelle Karr-Ueoka personally assembled gorgeous strawberry-hibiscus shaved ice from Aloha Ice, while NYC toque Adam Sobel served Brooklyn-style pizza and luscious ricotta-topped meatballs from his Nana Lu counter. Camera flashes surrounded LAMILL’s vibrant acai and guava doughnuts. A delectable night, indeed! -Margo Steines
