Houston Grand Opera ball took guests to Tinseltown and raised more than $1.25 million.
THE PARTY Music lovers put on their white-tie best for the Houston Grand Opera ball, chaired by Liz Grimm and Jack Roth, and the late-night young professionals afterparty, chaired by Ishwaria and Vivek Subbiah. More than 500 guests attended the two events, which occurred at The Post Oak Hotel. THE SCENE The ballroom was decked out for the old Hollywood theme, and 15-foot-tall golden palm trees and giant palm fronds adorned the space. Performances by Richard Brown Orchestra and American Contemporary Ballet, as well as a tribute to the legendary Fred Astaire, accompanied the surf-and-turf dinner before a new wave of lively patrons rolled in for the second event. THE HIGHLIGHTS The evening featured several acts, but Rock & Roll Hall of Famer David Lee Roth stole the largest spotlight when he took the stage for a set that included “California Girls” and Van Halen megahit “Jump.” In total, the crowd raised more than $1.25 million.
