Houston’s social set, decked out in sensational spring attire, partied down up high! For the first time, the semiannual Simon Fashion Now event—an invitation-only mega-cocktail-party and raucous runway show, presented by Cadillac with sponsors including Houston magazine—was held at the rooftop pool at the Galleria’s Westin Oaks hotel instead of downstairs on the mall’s ice rink.
The fashionable festivities got underway with a posh poolside VIP pre-party, hosted by Houston Editor-in-Chief Jeff Gremillion. The breeze was blowing as tipplers outfitted in flowing frocks shielded their eyes from the setting sun, sipping Grey Goose cocktails. Trays of mini grilled cheese sandwiches, cucumber slices topped with tuna tartare, and yummy lemon minitarts circulated the patio area.
While awaiting the main event, guests—including Gabriela and Daniel Dror, Caroline Kenney and Jill Schlenker—admired Missoni-clad models towering over the crowd on platforms bordering the pool.
Attendees were then ushered to their seats for the fashion show, featuring Page Parkes models in spring looks from Saks Fifth Avenue, Jimmy Choo, Carolina Herrera, Fendi, Ferragamo and more, working a white runway stretched out over the pool. Logos of presenting sponsors floated in the water, and everyone oohed and ahed over the season’s flirty tops and cropped pants in citrus-savvy shades as they hit the catwalk.
As the wind picked up, guests headed inside the Galleria and made the move to the afterparty at Gigi’s Asian Bistro, where hunks clad in little more than body paint served up lychee martinees on passing trays.
Gigi Huang herself presided over the fun crowd, which included Jeff Shell, Jared Lang and many of the models from the earlier show. Noshes such as dumplings became much-needed fuel, as PYTs busted moves on the patio-set dance floor until well past midnight.
