In 2021, Brooke Burnside opened Barnyard Fitness in Bridgehampton, transforming an old potato packaging facility—once her mother’s law office— into a purpose-driven workout space. “The vibe is high-energy but grounded,” she says. Her signature classes blend functional strength training with Pilates-inspired movement, designed to build deep, sustainable strength. Each session begins with a dynamic warmup, flows into a total-body workout, and closes with a purposeful cooldown.
“Slower is harder—but more effective. I want my clients to move with intention and purpose, not just go through the motions,” she says. “That little shake you feel? I love that. That’s your strength, building in real time.” This summer, she’s raising the bar by installing ceiling heaters and ramping up her signature class, STRONG—a low-impact, high-intensity session designed to push limits. “It burns in the best way,” she says.

Outside of her classes, Burnside sublets the studio to other fitness and wellness brands, allowing them to connect with the Hamptons community. Adrienne Flemming Fit is popping up this season, and Practice Room is partnering with Barnyard for a full Memorial Day to Labor Day residency. One initiative Burnside is especially proud of is the athletic training program she launched at Bridgehampton High School. She worked closely with the varsity basketball and baseball teams—traveling to games, leading strength and conditioning sessions, managing recovery and teaching them how to properly fuel their bodies. “For the first time in a decade, the Killer Bees made it to the final two in the state finals, and we kept the entire starting five strong, healthy and injury-free all season.”
At Barnyard Fitness, the goal is to offer a supportive, judgment-free space that also pushes you beyond your comfort zone. “We grow when we’re uncomfortable,” she says. “That’s where the magic happens.” 264 Butter Lane, Bridgehampton
