Some fashion brands take years to hit their stride. Not so with new label L’Emiune, says Chicago fashion guru Ikram Goldman. “I went to see it and absolutely fell in love with the way the collection looked,” she says. “They took denim and made these incredible dresses that have beautiful elongated shapes that are truly elevated. These are gorgeous denims, gorgeous jackets.”

What really caught Goldman’s attention wasn’t simply the garments’ chic aesthetic, but something rarer—a new line that feels polished, modern and distinctly assured. “It’s a very elevated, cool, urban collection,” adds Goldman of the Seoul-based brand. “The pieces are very stylish in a couture sense, much more stylish and couture in feel than streetwear.”

L’Emiune’s long dresses, in particular, have stayed with Goldman, who calls out a long white poplin dress currently carried in her boutique. “You could absolutely wear that to a black-tie event. It reminds me of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s Narciso Rodriguez dress, but a little bit more funky, a little bit more modern, a little bit more now.” The jackets bring a different energy: crisp and confident. “They’re rock ‘n’ roll without the punk rock,” Goldman says, adding, “They have great lines and great shapes. Proportionally, they’re made to perfection.” For Ikram, that’s the point of L’Emiune. It delivers ease with edge and glamour without strain. 15 E. Huron St., ikram.com
