“We have always had an affinity for home design and love creating environments for ourselves, our friends and our clients,” says Mark Badgley of the newly debuted home collection, which was revealed at New York Fashion Week with longtime collaborator James Mischka. The Beverly Hills-based pair (who met while studying at Parsons School of Design) first earned a fevered following for their gowns in 1988, which have since been worn by starlets such as Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna. And now, the brand’s sophisticated designs extend beyond the closet.

“The Home Collection retains the old Hollywood feeling Badgley Mischka is known for—glamorous, elegant and modern,” Mischka explains. Standouts in the Monterey Collection include a credenza ($6,000) with a mix of handgilded metal geometric shapes over a mirrored surface; and a lounge chair ($3,600) with a gold-brushed base, deep-cushioned seat and wood-slated back. “Cinematic interiors from the middle of the 20th century had a huge influence on us,” says Badgley of the pair’s inspiration.

Mischka adds: “We are part of a huge blurring of the lines between the different aspects of lifestyle—fashion, home, travel, entertaining. We felt it was a great time to expand our reach.”
