Ahead of the Met Gala, buzz swirled over whether or not Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette would walk the red carpet. The fashionable feline did in fact receive an official invite.
While it looks like Choupette is opting to lay low in Paris, Jared Leto has made sure fashion’s most famous kitty is properly celebrated. A standout among the jewels and gowns and suits, Leto wore a bleach-white, lifesize cat costume eerily reminiscent of Choupette.
Known for collaborating with former Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, the actor and 30 Seconds to Mars singer oped to dive headfirst into the theme, which honors the exhibit "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty." He is set to play the German fashion legend in a future biopic.
When Lagerfeld passed in 2019, the Burmese cat was rumored to have inherited a sum of the designer’s money. She currently is in the care of Lagerfeld’s former housekeeper, who cares for her full time now.
