LOUGE DELCY

ARTIST AND FOUNDER, DAPPER STUDIOS

“When I was younger, my sister used to think I was her little toy doll, so she’d dress me up for fun,” says Lougè Delcy. “It turned out to be something I enjoyed, and her love for style rubbed off on me. I became obsessed with looking my best.” Nowadays, the Brooklyn-born bicoastal photographer’s style reflects his dad’s influence and the cultures Delcy photographs worldwide. “[My dad] taught me to embrace self-expression and individualism, which now reflects in how I carry myself and even how I dress,” he shares, adding he loves learning about—and celebrating—clothing from other cultures. “For instance, after visiting Thailand, I fell in love with the fisherman pants and, later, the boubou garb from Senegal. I cherish these experiences as a way of honoring their beautiful cultures while making them a part of my own identity.” While his signature hat is a must when getting dressed, other outfit items are determined by Delcy’s mood. “When I wake up feeling bright and cheerful, I’ll wear an all-white or colorful look,” says the artist, who is currently in Brazil creating new work. “On days when I crave a bit of mystery, it’s all about the all-black look. But no matter what, I always inject a healthy dose of personality into my outfits, no matter the occasion.”

As a young boy curious about global discovery, Jean-Michel Gathy’s passion for geography and architecture was born out of his family’s adventures across Europe. Tasked with planning the journeys at a tender age, he identified and visited iconic structures and sceneries in each country that left indelible impressions. In 1983, the Belgian-born virtuoso founded an architecture firm focusing on innovative designs for luxury hotels, residences and hospitality establishments. With a specialized niche and forward-thinking approach, the firm has retained a leading position in the market. His prestigious projects include a myriad of Aman properties, including the Aman New York and Residences in Manhattan and the forthcoming Aman Miami (currently under construction), and a dizzying list of posh properties for One & Only, the Four Seasons and Cheval Blanc. From plunge pools to the spa bathroom, we can thank Gathy for pioneering some of our favorite flourishes at luxury hotels. Through the success of the iconic properties they have designed, the firm and Gathy have established themselves as a reference point in the hotel sector. As co-founder of breakout brand Public School, Maxwell Osborne is no stranger to success in the fashion industry. Since its launch in 2008, Public School set itself apart by keeping its production roots in New York. By supporting local tailors, pattern makers, and skilled garment workers, the brand stayed true to its DNA and emphasized its connection to the city. With a commitment to the local community, Osborne and his partner Dao-Yi Chow have made Public School a New York story worth telling and racked up numerous prestigious awards. In 2013, the brand won the Swarovski Award for Menswear at the CFDA Fashion Awards, followed by the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in the same year. In 2014, Public School was named Menswear Designer of the Year at the CFDA Fashion Awards, solidifying its status as a leader in the industry. The brand also claimed the first Woolmark Prize for Menswear in the USA and internationally in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

During the pandemic, Maxwell Osborne found himself yearning for inspiration. With his usual sources and resources disrupted, Osborne decided to turn inward and create something new. In 2021, anOnlyChild was born. The brand represents a departure from the streetwear aesthetic of Public School, showcasing a more personal and introspective side of Osborne’s creativity. We asked the everevolving visionary for a quick sketch.
