Dr. Carl Findley III is a modern-day Renaissance man. After a career in teaching as a professor of German and Russian literature and philosophy, the published author switched tracks to pursue an art-focused role in finance and investing. “I’m currently completing my Master’s in wealth management from Columbia University in New York City, focusing on art as an asset and family office practice,” says Dr. Findley. “I recently presented ‘Art as an Asset’ at Columbia, explaining how contemporary art can potentially serve as an asset class to diversify portfolios.” Dr. Findley and his wife, Jennifer, a private art curator and founder of JFiN Collective, have extended their love of art to philanthropy, supporting Mingei International Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. “A man’s style should elevate and empower, but I’m from the South, so it should also be subtle,” says Dr. Findley. “When I’m at a museum or charitable event, I can push the boundaries a bit, but when working with a client, it’s all business, and I keep it classic.”
