Members of the design community and Florida International University students alike gathered at the iconic Moore Building for the 31st annual Festival of the Trees fundraiser on November 16, 2017. Over 850 attendees enjoyed spirits by Bacardi, a craft beer garden sponsored by MIA Brewing Co, Lagunitas, Tank Brewery and Wynwood Brewing Co. all in benefit for design education. Sushi, burger bar and light bites were provided by local caterer Parties by Pat. The Title Sponsor of the event was Alex and Katie Yahr with U.S. Construction. Participants placed bids on “tree” art sculptures designed by local architecture and design firms and voted for the best ones which were awarded during the event. All proceeds from the tickets and auction earnings directly benefited the students of the department of Interior Architecture. In attendance was Dean of the College of Communications, Architecture + the Arts Brian Schriner, Alexander Yahr and Katie Yahr from U.S. Construction, Department Chair Janine King, William Gaskins of Herman Miller (South Florida) and former The Bachelorette contestant, local architecture, interior design firms and students.
