Rolex was definitely the boutique of the hour in the days preceding and following its opening party in the Design District. Although insiders knew the store had been opened since November, company brass opted for a frigid night in January to hold its official debut.
Social types didn’t disappoint store manager Victor Herrera, who admitted he was a bit worried the chilly temperatures would keep guests away. Instead, hundreds of Rolex-lovers turned up in coats and jackets to check out the 1,250-square-foot location (the first of its type in Miami) and its ticking offerings. Rolex President Stewart Wicht was on hand to welcome the likes of Daniel and Marcella Novela, Criselda Breene, John Lin, Raul de Molina, Jennifer Valoppi and many others.
As attendees crowded the plaza in front of the retailer enjoying Champagne and a live set by performer Jenene Caramielo, others opted for the warm comfort—and inventory delights—of the store’s interior, where shopkeepers were kept busy showing folks a variety of Rolex models.
