The culinary scene in Miami is in fashion but so is celebrity chef Chris Valdes! The amazing young chef has cooked up his own line of leather chef jackets and recently displayed the one on the cover of the Luxury Dining Guide of Miami Magazine’s February edition at an event co-hosted by the magazine, on February 8th at Mariposa Restaurant in Neiman Marcus, Coral Gables. It was a night of food, fashion and sips and Chef Chris shared his inspiration behind designing his own jacket.
Life wasn't always easy for Miami's self-made Celebrity Chef, Chris Valdes. Growing up without his parents, who lost their home and family restaurant when he was only 6 years old - Valdes had a rocky start. However, his passion for the culinary arts, coupled with his enthusiasm and hard work over the years earned him a scholarship to attend the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. After graduation, Valdes decided to rule out law school and create his very own catering company, Best Chefs Catering.
From there it has only gone uphill. The young chef has accomplished feats that any successful seasoned chef would call impressive at his age. He has starred in his successful YouTube Channel, Cooking with Chris, been on the covers of several magazines and important publications, and featured in local newspapers. Valdes has also made an impact in our local community by supporting many philanthropic causes, including the American Liver Foundation and Chapman Partnership, as well as a special honor - giving the keynote speech to students entering Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute.
Chef Chris will be participating in this year’s South Beach Food & Wine Festival as a featured chef in the Grand Tasting Village.
