The Power of Pink

In case you’ve been under a rock for the last few years, you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s what you can do this weekend to help the charitable cause.

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach gets into the Breast Cancer Awareness spirit.

City for Display:

1. Roll For The Cure
Who knew being an advocate could also delicious? Chef Subin Chankesorn of SAIA Sushi has been a longtime activist when it comes to breast cancer causes. This year, he’s hosting Pink Roll for a Cure, which means he’s created a special dish in honor of the cause: a delectable roll composed of shrimp, mango, bell pepper, spicy crab salad and topped with pink miso uzu sauce. Proceeds from the dish go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and its efforts in breast cancer research. SAIA Sushi, 999 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954.302.5252,

2. Bleau Goes Pink
The Fontainebleau is going pink for the entire month of October with a slew of promotions that will all directly support the Susan G. Komen Foundation. All signature restaurants will extend their Miami Spice menus through the end of the month and Lapis Spa will offer two $99 spa treatments. A portion of the proceeds from those initiatives will go to the SGKF. To further show its support, the hotel's facade will be illuminated in pink for the entire month of October. Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 4441 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, 305.798.3932,

3. A Sea of Pink
Since its inception in 1987, Cancer Link has helped raised more than $1 million for the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute (all run by volunteers). Now, you can help them. The Sea of Pink Party is an afternoon of fun, food and fundraising. Oct. 11. 12PM. Tickets $110-$1,000. 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, 305.400.7000, 305.273.9088,

4. Party For Pink
Breast cancer is no laughing matter, but to help raise awareness, Artistic Vibes wants to make you laugh. Together with local musicians, artists and comedians, the venue is putting on its annual Party for Pink with live music, standup comedy, poetry and a few other surprises. Oct. 11. 8PM. Tickets $12-$15. 12986 SW 89th Ave., Miami, 305.305.9103,

5. Ladies Who Care Brunch
Starting this Sunday, Oct. 13, and lasting through the end of the month, the Shore Club will transform its weekly Ladies Who Brunch into a monthlong fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and rechristen it Ladies Who Care. Expect all the usuals: multiple cuisine stations and bottomless cocktails—yet know that 10 percent of funds from the brunches go toward efforts to finding a breast cancer cure. And be sure to wear your pink! Shore Club, 1901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305.695.3226,
