Husband-and-wife duo Nicole and Zachary Tunick have made it their mission to help their valued clientele buy, sell, and renovate luxury properties across the East End.

The A-list pairing behind Douglas Elliman’s Tunick Team, Nicole and Zachary Tunick
Nicole Tunick and her husband, Zachary Tunick, first formed their real estate partnership 19 years ago. Today, they have earned their acclaimed reputation as Douglas Elliman’s Tunick Team (thetunickteam.elliman.com) and are responsible for countless successful sales and breathtaking home renovations. We sat down with Nicole to discuss her career, her Tunick Team partnership, new-to-the-market listings and more.
How did you first get your start in the real estate industry?
Zachary has been in construction and real estate development his whole career. When we met in Sag Harbor 20 years ago, we decided to purchase and renovate a house together. That house became our first project. I was immediately hooked. I got licensed shortly after and started to work weekends with him. We were essentially off to the races together.
How did you and your husband, Zachary, first enter into your Tunick Team partnership?
Once we partnered with Douglas Elliman, The Tunick Team was an organic progression for us in business. Becoming a team allowed us to create a brand, and we continue to evolve the brand with each new real estate experience.
What are some of your favorite parts of your job?
Zachary and I agree that we like the constant change of the real estate market in the Hamptons. There are always new challenges and new clients. We love the ability to problem-solve, meet and exceed client expectations, and push ourselves to the next level. Plus, getting to see some of the most beautiful real estate in the world doesn’t exactly stink.
What listings have been noteworthy this year, and what is on the horizon for The Tunick Team?
We started the year with a bang, closing 180 Rose Hill in January for $20 million. The first and second quarter continue to be especially strong. We are currently finishing up a newly designed home in East Hampton with sunset and water views.
How has Zachary’s background as a real estate developer helped further your partnership?
Having Zachary’s construction and development background has been the single-most important thing for me, especially as a woman in business. I have learned so much from him. I now have a great understanding of home construction. This surprises a lot of our clients. For us, as a team, Zachary’s knowledge is priceless. Our clients lean heavily on him to make smart decisions with their purchases.
What are some of your favorite neighborhoods in the Hamptons?
There are so many great neighborhoods that it’s hard to not fall in love with them all. If we had to choose, our favorite neighborhood would be Sag Harbor because it is the only village on the water and it has great restaurants and a year-round community. A close second would be East Hampton, also known as the mini Madison Avenue of the Hamptons, which has amazing shopping. The Springs of East Hampton is still a bit undiscovered and has fantastic marinas and the most beautiful waterfront we have ever seen.
Do you have any wisdom for those who are buying or selling a home?
The Hamptons is a unique market that operates in its own bubble. We do not trend the same way the rest of the country does. We are not a primary housing market and are not affected by mortgage rates as much as most of the country has been. We are still operating on historically low inventory and the market continues to be competitive. This makes it a great time to sell.
What made you choose the Hamptons as your home?
One word: lifestyle. You get to live in one of the most beautiful areas in the world and have a year-round community of people and restaurants, yet you are close to one of the best cities in the world: New York City.
