A benefit for Jewish Family Service and Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center included the best seats in the house for Hamilton.
THE PARTY On Jan. 13, lucky members and supporters of Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family Service enjoyed a lavish cocktail hour and dinner at the US Grant, a Q&A with cast members from Hamilton and the best seats in the house for the production at the San Diego Civic Theatre. THE GUESTS Event chairs Liz Nederlander Coden and Daniel Coden welcomed Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Katherine Faulconer, and many luminaries from the community. THE HIGHLIGHTS In a talk with cast members, Isaiah Johnson (George Washington) said of playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, “People are not going to realize the impact he’s having on the social and political landscape until 50 years from now.” The VIP attendees enjoyed a private dessert reception with the actors after the show, and proceeds from the event and ticket sales benefited both organizations. The event was an especially exciting one for JFS, which celebrates its centennial this year. -Andrea Bennett
