Finally, Hamilton Tickets Will Go On Sale to Us Mere Mortals

The touring cast has not yet been announced.

As a rule, Left Coasters don’t spend a whole lot of time being envious of New Yorkers. But there’s no getting around Hamilton envy—the wistful feeling that everyone else, even Indiana troll-in-chief Mike Pence, has seen the Broadway show of the moment. It’s the rare hot cultural thing San Franciscans cannot get ahold of via Netflix, someone else’s HBO Go account, or a reluctant trip down to L.A., and, dammit, it makes us mad.

Until now, news of tickets to the San Francisco touring show—previously available only to theater company SHN’s season ticketholders—has been scarce. Today SHN announced that single tickets will finally, finally go on presale on Monday, December 5, at 10 a.m. (That sale’s only available to American Express cardholders, so if that’s not you, maybe hit up your HBO Go person.) The official open-to-everyone sale begins on Monday, December 12, at 10 a.m. Prices range from $100 to $197, though you can certainly pay more. Scalpers in New York, meanwhile, are advertising tickets to the original for around $750 and up.

San Francisco's show opens at the Orpheum Theater on March 10 and runs through August 5, 2017. Details about who’s in the touring cast aren’t yet available, says SHN communications director Andi Wang. No, you won’t be seeing Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, but then, neither is anyone in New York: The Hamilton mastermind took his final bow in July.
