Nite Yun’s erstwhile Cambodian pop-up turned mall-kiosk noodle shop will soon enter its next phase, as a full-service restaurant, taking over the old Half Orange spot in Fruitvale. An expanded menu of home-style Cambodian dishes will supplement the noodle soups that are Nyum Bai’s calling card.

This counter-service Ferry Building outpost of soul food maestra Tanya Holland’s flagship restaurant will bring the chef’s vaunted cornmeal waffles and fried chicken (pictured above) across the bridge to San Francisco for the first time.

Hawking Bird
Hawker Fare’s original Oakland location is no more, but its spirit— and chef James Syhabout’s much-admired chicken-and-rice recipe—will live on at Hawking Bird, a chicken-centric fast-casual spot in the former Blackwater Station space in Temescal.
