Glamping Galore:

The three best places to camp in comfort this summer.

 

Forget schlepping heavy tents and equipment to a campsite, only to find out your forgot the stakes at home—this summer, check out one of these three local glamping sites that offer all the amenities you need for a last-minute weekend trip.

Safari West
Forsake the pricey journey to Africa for a wild safari just 66 miles north of the Golden Gate at Safari West. Canvass tents are propped on wood platforms with decks that boast views of the 400 acre savannah-like wildlife preserve. By day, embark on a safari where you’ll encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and other animals in an open-air Jeep. 

Costanoa
The dozens of tents available at Pescadero’s Costanoa are tricked out with heated blankets and glass windows with views of the surrounding hills. And no need to rough it—there are heated showers, dry saunas, outdoor fireplaces, and a hot tub available. Before dark, take to the hills with mountain bikes rentable at the lodge. 

Stewarts Point Store & Retreat
One of the California coast’s best (and most unassuming) glamping outposts is tucked behind a century-old general store on the bluffs a few miles south of Sea Ranch. Wood porches overlook the Sonoma Coast’s cliffs while fire pits stand ready for s’more time at night. Explore this often overlooked area by day with one of their quirky curated activities, like tree climbing lessons.
