Grand Opening Alert: These Restaurants Are Coming Soon

Three much-anticipated openings.

Tacos Oscar
Oakland
ETA: Early fall 2017
Oakland’s taco pop-up is getting a permanent brick-and-mortar home—albeit a tiny one, inside a shipping container that used to house a pressed juice spot. Expect hand-pressed tortillas (pictured above), weekend breakfast tacos, and, eventually, beer and wine. 420 40th St. (Near Shafter Ave.)

Wursthall
San Mateo
ETA: Winter 2017
J. Kenji López-Alt, the bestselling cookbook author and Internet food scientist behind the Food Lab, is helping to open a sausage and beer hall in his adopted hometown of San Mateo. His menu will feature both German and American sausage styles, a modern take on a pulled pork sandwich, and plenty of craft beer. 310 Baldwin Ave. (At S. B St.)

Birdsong
SoMa
ETA: Winter 2017
Chris Bleidorn, who previously cooked at Saison and Atelier Crenn, will open a Pacific Northwest–style fine-dining restaurant in the former AQ space. Diners will be able to choose a 12-course tasting menu or order large-format dishes—e.g., whole fish or whole duck—à la carte. 1085 Mission St. (Near 7th St.)
