It’s Raining Men-Boys

The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus convenes the biggest boy band ever.

 SLIDESHOW

“Music of My Heart,” ’N Sync

So many harmonies and frosty tips, but the original song included vocals from Gloria Estefan, so it’s closer to boy band lite.

“Bills, Bills, Bills,” Destiny’s Child

Very far from a boy band number, but this Grammy nom will be performed by Well-Strung, an all-male, singing string quartet.

(2 of 5)

“Celebration,” Kool & the Gang

Not sure the soul group would have defined themselves as a boy band back in the day, but their 1980s hit is a Pride Parade anthem.

“What Makes You Beautiful,” One Direction

Very, very boy band. The SFGMC is performing this song a cappella, at a slower tempo closer to what the song’s arranger intended.

(4 of 5)

“Y.M.C.A.,” the Village People

Perhaps not a traditional boy band, but let’s be honest: Without the Village People, the genre as we know it would be missing something.

Nothing says Pride Week like a 300-piece boy band. The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus has taken on the monumental task of singing through the repertoires of American boy bands through the ages—from the Beach Boys to One Direction—with Heartthrobs: Biggest Boy Band Ever. But not every song they’ll be singing was performed by a bona fide NKOTB type. Some liberties will be taken. For the set list, click through the slideshow above.
