Outside Lands: a festival that celebrates all that is great about San Francisco (the wine, the food, the music, the windmills) and all that isn’t (the crowds, the cost). Love it or hate it, OSL has become this town’s signature musical event. Here, a quick guide to finding the bands you weren't already going to see.

If you like LCD Soundsystem…go see TokiMonsta
While this L.A. DJ and producer’s beats are decidedly more downtempo than those of James Murphy’s crew, the mixing and matching of sounds and syncopation is equally alive and well in her music.

If you like Radiohead…go see Ibeyi
It’s hard to replicate the otherworldly production values that make Thom Yorke and Co. so unique, but these twin French- Cuban sisters understand the simple musical power of harmony and dissonance.
Saturday, August 6

If you like Lionel Richie…go see GRiZ
The 25-year-old producer has built layered, bass-filled samples on a foundation of funk. The result is funky, danceable beats with similar building blocks to Richie’s—but without the Jheri curl.
