The Looker: Pendleton's Second Portland Collection Launches at Seedstore

The heritage brand's buzzy spin-off line arrives in S.F.

Blanket stripes were a major trend on the fall 2012 runways, cropping up at Burberry, Carven, Christian Dior, Rag & Bone, Suno, and more. But Pendleton Woolen Mills, the Oregon-based original, has been churning out its stripes and tribal-prints since the early 1900s. After harnessing their sudden resurgence into a slew of collaborations over the past five years--everyone from Nike to Anthropologie couldn't slap those prints on products fast enough--Pendleton launched the Portland Collection last year, a contemporary line of menswear, womenswear, and home accessories inspired by the brand's archives. This fall, the popular spin-off line is back for a second season.

The iconic prints are splashed across knits, vests, dresses, button-ups, scarves, backpacks, and, of course, blankets. (There's even one ill-advised jumpsuit in the mix.) But the real draw, like last season, is the jackets and coats, available in an understated-to-wild range of checked, striped, and geometric prints. Take a trip to Inner Richmond tomorrow night for the collection's San Francisco launch party at Seedstore, where you can scope out the majority of the line--with a glass of Pendleton whisky in hand--before it hits racks at Conifer and Azalea later this fall.
