“A lot of the people in my community of collaborators live here,” says interior designer Lauren Geremia of Emeryville—where she resides. The talented decorator has lived in the region for seven years and credits the space and affordability as reasons it has emerged as a hotbed for creatives. Geremia has combined her sense of fine art, style and design to become the go-to designer for tech headquarters such as Instagram, Dropbox and Lumosity, and has left a narrative stamp on some of San Francisco’s most stylish bars, including Hogwash and Churchill. Most recently, she helped a Berkeley couple start a contemporary photography collection in their new home. Here, she reveals the East Bay gems that inspire her own work.

"Esqueleto is my go-to place for therapy shopping. Owner and designer Lauren Wolf's inventory of jewelry, like this Cleopatra ring ($6,500), as well as textiles and artwork, is always changing." 482A 49th St., Oakland, 510-629-6216

"Umami Mart in Old Oakland is my standby place to grab unique barware pieces for a cocktail party." 815 Broadway, Oakland, 510-250-9559.

"Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve is one of the best places to go for hikes and watching the sunset with friends." Skyline Boulevard, Oakland, 888-327-2757

"Neighbor’s home goods store in Piedmont is [my] one-stop shop for buying clients gifts and finishing touches for projects." 4200 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, 510-594-2288

“Working with Erica Tanov ’s fabrics and pillows (fabric from $20 per yard, throw pillows from $85) is always fun. She's such a trendsetter." 1827 Fourth St. Berkeley, 510-849-3331.
