We won't cry into that

21st Amendment—the San Francisco brewpub named after the constitutional amendment that repealed Prohibition—is burnishing its spot on the cutting edge. Among the first California craft brewers to can their beers (aluminum keeps beer fresh longer and is easier to recycle than glass), owners Shaun O’Sullivan and Nico Freccia are also fueling an increasingly popular business venture: collaborations between breweries. Last fall, they released a limited-edition batch with Ninkasi Brewing in Eugene, Oregon, flavored with California dates and called Allies Win the War. Meanwhile, fans of 21st Amendment’s seasonal session beer Bitter American (session beer has less than 5 percent alcohol by volume, which is less than that of most craft beers) will be glad to know that it will now be a year-round offering.
