What to Eat at Thursday's Best of the Bay Extravaganza

A handy guide for plotting your massive caloric intake.

Caramel Stroopwafel from the Stroopie Gourmet

In a mere 48 hours, San Francisco's rather-epic annual Best of the Bay Area blowout will be upon us, bringing with it a smorgasbord of bites from big-name local restaurants. If you haven't gotten your ticket yet, make haste, because this thing typically sells out. If you have, here's how to eat and drink your way through the evening:

1. Coconut curry from Asian Box
As healthy as it is impeccably fresh, the grub from this Palo Alto favorite has won a substantial following. Its coconut curry with lamb meatballs and glass noodles will show you why.

2. Octopus from Sutro's at the Cliff House
In a delectable nod to its oceanside perch, the city classic is doling out bites of tender, meaty, and adroitly-charred Spanish grilled octopus.

3. Truffle mushroom cheesecake from Twenty Five Lusk
Between its sleek digs and upscale grub, Twenty Five Lusk could more accurately be called Twenty Five Lux. Its truffle mushroom cheesecake is a case in point: it's a taste of the lush life, plain and simple.

4. Smoked tripe from Dirty Habit
When the Fifth Floor became Dirty Habit in April, it retained the considerable chefly talents of David Bazirgan. And with inventive but comforting dishes like smoked tripe with feta and lavash, they'd be a fool to let him go.

5. Caramel Stroopwafel from the Stroopie Gourmet
Even if you have trouble saying it, you won't have trouble eating it. These traditional Dutch cookies, straight outta Oakland and served warm and sandwiched with an oozing layer of caramel, speak the universal language of sweet, sweet love.

In other words, come hungry.
