What We're Obsessed With Right Now

The ice creams, music venues, and aquariums that San Francisco staffers are obsessed with right now.

Chambered nautilus at Monterey Bay Aquarium

Scott Lucas, Web Editor: The Monterey Bay Aquarium is exhibiting all kinds of cephalopods right now, including my personal favorite, this chambered nautilus. Golden ratio spirals, y'all!

Rebecca Marx, Senior Editor: Fentons Creamery in Oakland—as Michael Bauer pointed out today, it turns 120 this year. As a self-identified ice cream fanatic, I can't believe I still haven't been there, and plan to remedy this oversight as soon as possible.

Ian Eck, Editorial Intern: The Black Widow of Silicon Valley continues to intrigue my morbid curiosity. 26-year-old escort, from a wealthy family, kicked out of every boarding school they ever put her in, wanders from sugardaddy to sugardaddy (including a self-described "monkey man" as well as a Google X engineer), leaving them OD'd in her wake. Cold. Allegedly.

Sofia Perez, Editorial Intern: Last week, I finally went to show at the Great American Music Hall and was blown away. This is the second SF venue I've entered (the first being The Warfield) whose embellished ceiling details have left me with a sense of history as well as psychedelic euphoria. The crowd was all elbows, but the architecture and experience was well worth the bruises.

Carly Salzberg, Editorial Intern: If the Renegade Craft Fair & Festival excites you, you're not alone. Go see it this weekend at Fort Mason Center. This is the fair to visit if you want to get craft ideas or see creative handiwork.
