Here are the best places in the Valley to celebrate "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports."

The 143rd annual Kentucky Derby takes place May 6, and party goers in Scottsdale and Phoenix have their calendars marked for the occasion. The Kentucky Derby is much more than a horse race. It's a spectacular show of fashion, culture, food and the delicious renditions of the classic mint julep. Check out any one of these southern celebrations—you'll be singing "My Old Kentucky Home" before you know it.

Bourbon Steak’s Kentucky Derby Lawn Party

Inspired by “Millionaire’s Row” at Churchill Downs, Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak is celebrating everything southern at this Kentucky Derby brunch and lawn party from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Listen to live blues music, partake in Bulleit Bourbon tastings and traditional southern fare as you watch the races from indoor and outdoor plasma screens. Show off your best hat or seersucker suit to a panel of judges for a chance to win prizes, and don’t miss a chance to test drive the latest models from BMW, courtesy of BMW at North Scottsdale. The event is $109 per person, plus tax and service charge. 7575 E. Princess Drive, Scottsdale, 480.585.2694

The Stella Artois Derby Day Club

General admission is $25. Reserve a spot in the Sanderson Lincoln Black Label VIP Lounge for $100 in advance or $110 at the door and receive complimentary food and cocktails. 1501 W.
