Warby Parker’s first-ever retail location opened at Greene Street back in 2013, making the city the perfect place for them to reach the 200-store milestone. The Union Square and Morningside Heights stores will be opened in tandem, and both will continue making it easier for NYC customers to access all of their vision care needs. The stores will offer eye exams and carry the brand’s full assortment of sun and optical offerings, including the New Deco and Winter 2022 collections. Daily contact lenses, including Scout by Warby Parker and third-party contacts, will also be available. Whether customers need glasses, contacts, an eye exam, an eyewear accessory or anything else vision-related, Warby Parker has New Yorkers covered.
The brand’s original Greene Street location in Soho kept grand civic buildings such as train stations, museums and libraries top of mind, and Warby Parker continues to come back to that inspiration. Elements such as oak and walnut tables, leather seating, brass detailing and custom terrazzo floors pay tribute to civic buildings in each of the new stores.
Each new Warby Parker store features artwork unique to the location, and the Morningside Heights space proves no different. The brand partnered with Harlem-based artist Nick Low on radiant, portrait-fulled illustrations, including a full-scale mural. The works were inspired by the long list of notable artists, musicians, writers and thinkers who have called Morningside Heights home, including George Gershwin, Thurgood Marshall and Jack Kerouac.
The Union Square location is easily spottable thanks to its “Nice to See You” flag waving outside. A huge double-walled mural by New York artist Timothy Goodman dominates the interior design, featuring city-centric shapes. Warby Parker’s first office was in Union Square back in 2011, making the return to the neighborhood all the more special.
Psst! Warby Parker will also be opening another NYC store come early 2023, located on the Upper West Side. The 80th and Columbus location will be known as the Warby Parker Museum of the Blue-Footed Booby, honoring the brand’s long-standing unofficial mascot. Sitting right across the street from the natural history museum, the store will feature an eye-catching exhibition highlighting custom artwork from New York-based artists Maira Kalman, Julia Rothman, and Nate Padavick in addition to Warby Parker’s usual offerings. All modern and cozy at once, each warmly lit space ensures New Yorkers top-notch eyecare, no matter which location they choose.
