The 36th annual RAMMY Awards raised a glass to the finest in DC’s culinary scene.
THE PARTY It was a convivial night when the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington held its soiree at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Yes, the RAMMYS brought together the best in the biz to toast one another’s success—and cheer the region’s tasty future. THE PEOPLE Culinarians traded their chef’s whites for hip ensembles and joined their fans for the festivities. Andrew Kim, co-founder of Chiko (the new restaurant of the year), donned a sleek jacket and pants. And RAMW President and CEO Kathy Hollinger was striking in her layered black dress. BEST IN SHOW The movable feast began with a reception downstairs and ended with an upstairs afterparty filled with a smorgasbord of bites and drinks. In between, 21 awards were doled out, like chef of the year (Amy Brandwein of Centrolina) and the Exceptional Leadership & Impact Award. The latter was bestowed upon DC resident José Andrés and wife Patricia Fernandez de la Cruz, who accepted the honor on his behalf, then hit the floor with their daughters and danced alongside the fellow stars of the culinary world. -Kristen Schott
