5 Cherry Blossom-Themed Menus to Celebrate Spring

Spring has sprung! Think pink and get into the cherry blossom spirit with these themed dishes at five DC restaurants.

The Lafayette is serving up a sweet cherry blossom-inspired dessert. 

1. Cuba Libre
Happy hour favorite Cuba Libre in Penn Quarter is feting the National Cherry Blossom Festival with blossom-inspired Cuban dishes. The featured entrée, a savory Tablita for Two ($15), features baked brie with cherry compote, grilled Spanish chistorra pinchos and cherry mostarda, served with Cantimpalo-style chorizo, marinated mixed olives and grilled Cuban bread crostini. For dessert, indulge in a scrumptious Rústico cherry tart ($8), which is served as an open-faced warm cherry tart with white chocolate ice cream. 801 Ninth St. NW, 202.408.1600

2. Burton’s Grill
Burton’s Grill is serving up five themed dishes in honor of the city’s pretty pink blooms. Guests can try the Andouille-crusted fried oysters with cherry-whiskey BBQ sauce or the cherry & pecan-crusted salmon with warm watercress, fingerling potatoes and a sweet Bavarian mustard vinaigrette. For a decadent finish, guests can enjoy a cherry-chocolate mason jar cheesecake with bourbon cream and an Oreo cookie crust. From $6 to $26 each. 3. Hawthorne
To celebrate cherry blossom season, Hawthorne created a tasty pan seared duck entrée ($22), featuring farmhouse-cured duck “bacon,” butter beans and Brussels sprouts topped with port wine sauce and dried cherry confit. 4. The Lafayette
Pair the Japanese cherry blossoms with a Japanese-inspired three-course, prix fixe dinner ($70 per guest) at The Hay-Adams. To start, guests enjoy an amuse-bouche with cherry Kir Royal. Available entrees include caramelized Chilean sea bass with seaweed salad, pickled radish, miso and brown butter sauce, and nori-wrapped black angus strip steak with steamed Japanese eggplant, matsutake mushroom and plum wine reduction. 5. The Oval Room
After admiring the cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin, head over to the Oval Room, where the Suzuki crudo ($16) is on offer. The Japanese dish includes salted cherry blossoms, black cherry emulsion and vanilla sea salt.
