As Inauguration Day returned to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20, a slew of high-profile figures donned fashion-forward attire. From politicians to public figures, the event drew in a crowd of prominent names dressed to the nines with ensambles from America’s leading fashion designers. We’ve compiled the best looks from Inauguration Day 2025.
Melania Trump
At the inauguration ceremony, the incoming first lady, Melania Trump, wore a sharply tailored navy coat by American designer Adam Lippes, paired with a wide-brimmed hat designed by Eric Javits. While attending the inaugural ball, she opted for a white column dress designed by Hervé Pierre, embellished with a zigzagging black ribbon. The look was reminiscent of her 2017 inauguration attire, a vanilla silk crepe off-the-shoulder gown, also designed by Pierre.
Jill Biden
Former first lady Jill Biden wore a deep purple-blue dress and coat ensemble by American designer Ralph Lauren while attending the inauguration ceremony. Her attire continues the ‘Biden blue’ theme, following a number of azure-hued looks she wore throughout the course of former president Joe Biden’s time in office.
Kamala Harris
Former vice president Kamala Harris maintained her signature style with a structured black pantsuit at the inauguration ceremony. The look was complemented by a black overcoat, pearl stud earrings and a black-and-white printed scarf.
Ivanka Trump
At the inauguration ceremony, Ivanka Trump donned an asymmetrically cut Green Dior look, accompanied by a matching hat. While attending the inaugural ball, she channeled Old Hollywood glamour with a custom recreation of Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 Givenchy gown, complete with black gloves and matching accessories.
Usha Vance
The incoming second lady, Usha Vance, wore an Oscar de la Renta soft pink overcoat with a matching scarf to the inauguration ceremony. At the inaugural ball, she sported a sapphire-toned dégradé gown by Lebanese designer Reem Acra, embellished with a chantilly lace underlay.
Lauren Sánchez
Lauren Sánchez, author and fiancée to Jeff Bezos, wore a white Alexander McQueen suit with padded shoulders to the inauguration ceremony. The outfit was paired with a lace busier and diamond stud earrings.
