How did you decide upon the timing and location of Long Weekend?
Andrew works in real estate with NewQuest Properties, so he is always looking for great spaces for future concepts. When the former Kings BierHaus location became available, he immediately knew it was a gem. The layout, expansive parking and overall footprint were hard to pass up, especially for the community-focused concept we envisioned for Long Weekend.
What have you noticed about Houston’s culinary scene?
Houston’s culinary scene is incredibly competitive, which pushes restaurants to elevate the overall experience. We wanted to create something that filled a need in the community: a family-friendly destination with high-quality food, drinks and atmosphere. In Houston, guests expect more than just a good meal. Ambiance matters, thoughtful design matters, service matters, so investing in a quality buildout is also important if you want to stand out long term.
How is it working together?
We balance each other out really well. Andrew is very strong on the business, construction and permitting side, while I bring a more creative perspective and focus on organization and guest experience. We each play to our strengths, and that balance has been a huge part of bringing Long Weekend to life.
“Between the live music, open spaces and social atmosphere, we wanted to create a place where people feel encouraged to slow down, gather and genuinely connect with friends and family.” –PAIGE ALVIS
You mentioned bringing people together in a way that mimics ranch lifestyle. Can you expand on that?
Life on a ranch naturally brings people together. Meals are shared without distractions, and people gather around a fire, telling stories, listening to music and spending quality time together. That sense of connection really inspired Long Weekend. Between the live music, open spaces and social atmosphere, we wanted to create a place where people feel encouraged to slow down, gather and genuinely connect with friends and family.
