RH Estates: RH's Most Monumental Launch To Date

RH has long understood that true luxury is not simply about possession, but about point of view. With the unveiling of RH Estates (rh.com), the brand makes its most significant product transformation to date: a sweeping new concept that honors the grandeur, craftsmanship and enduring romance of design history while reinterpreting it through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Debuting with 165 collections, RH Estates amplifies the work of some of the world’s most elite designers, artisans and manufacturers, bringing together a rarefied assortment that spans the entire home, from furnishings and lighting to rugs and décor. The launch arrives with a dedicated 268-page Sourcebook and immersive experiences inside RH Design Galleries across North America and Europe, with stand-alone RH Estates Galleries forthcoming in Greenwich, Connecticut, and West Hollywood, California.

At its heart, RH Estates is a celebration of craftsmanship at scale. Each piece is individually crafted and finished by master artisans, with hand-carvings, meticulously applied finishes and time-honored construction techniques defining the assortment. The result is a collection that feels both deeply rooted and newly relevant, one in which every object retains the character of the human hand.

Among the most striking introductions is Valencia by Formations. Inspired by the ornate Moorish motifs of 17th-century Spanish architecture, the collection is crafted with hand-hewn walnut tops and hand-carved doors and drawers, then hand-burnished, distressed and dry-polished to evoke the soul of a timeworn antique. Paloma by Formations similarly looks to history, reimagining the architectural character of an 18th-century Portuguese antique in American black walnut and hardwood, complete with patinaed finishes and hammered openwork medallions.

The launch also brings fresh attention to the legacy of Michael Taylor, the godfather of the California Look, whom Architectural Digest named one of the “20 Greatest Designers of All Time.” RH’s acquisition of Michael Taylor Designs allows the brand to faithfully introduce icons such as Jennifer, inspired by the original chair created for Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Jones in the 1970s. Cast from Taylor’s original mold, the collection captures his signature blend of relaxed refinement, grand proportions and supreme comfort and is also available in all-weather wicker. The Diamond Table, another Taylor design first created in 1970, is similarly cast from its original mold, with faceted cast-stone pedestal bases and a rough-hewn, aged-stone patina; it is also offered in Outdoor Reclaimed Teak.

Other highlights include Vendôme, a North Carolina-handcrafted silhouette inspired by a 1920s Parisian sofa, with dramatic scroll arms, contrast piping, oversize nailheads and fluted wood legs; Mayfair, designed with Edward Robinson and informed by 18th-century English neoclassical antiques; Oliviero by the Van Thiels, an homage to 17th-century Venetian furnishings; and Monastery, reproduced from a 17th-century dining table in RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman’s Belvedere, California home.

Perhaps most transformative is the debut of RH Bespoke Furniture and RH Couture Upholstery. Together, the programs expand customization at scale, allowing designers and architects to specify dimensions for case goods and dining tables, as well as custom upholstery sizing with COM fabrics sourced from anywhere in the world. With RH’s acquisition of Dmitriy & Co, the offering reaches a new level of couture craftsmanship, bringing the atelier’s hand-tailored upholstery, third-generation legacy and extraordinary comfort to a global audience.
