Long before Sant Ambroeus became synonymous with Aspen lunches and après-ski gatherings, it began as a small Milanese pasticceria founded in 1936. Ninety years later, the family-run institution is marking the anniversary with new culinary offerings, cultural activations and a renewed focus on the rituals and relationships that continue to shape the brand.

From cappuccinos and cornetti to afternoon espresso, the simple rituals of Italian café culture remain at the heart of the Sant Ambroeus experience.

Still family-run today, Sant Ambroeus has expanded from Milan to destinations including New York, Palm Beach and Aspen while maintaining the understated elegance that first defined the brand nearly a century ago. “We did not set out to build what we have, we set out to create a place where people feel at home, where the coffee is perfect and the light is right and time slows down just enough,” says managing partner Gaetano Guarducci. “That we are still doing that after ninety years, that is everything.”

In Aspen, Sant Ambroeus has found a natural home among a community that values art, culture, the outdoors and refinement in equal measure. Guarducci describes the mountain town as a reflection of the brand's cosmopolitan spirit, attracting visitors and residents who appreciate exceptional hospitality as much as adventure. “We simply found each other,” he says.

To commemorate the anniversary, Sant Ambroeus is introducing celebratory additions across its global locations, including a burgundy-hued rendition of its signature principessa cake layered with orange sponge, orange pastry cream and marzipan, alongside the Milano ’36 cocktail inspired by Milan’s aperitivo culture. The brand will also debut a limited-edition anniversary capsule collection this fall featuring collectible hats, scarves, totes and sweaters inspired by Sant Ambroeus’ enduring Milanese identity.

The anniversary also arrives during a period of continued growth for the brand, with new locations planned for Los Angeles, Miami and Dallas. “Ninety years in, we are as excited as ever,” says Guarducci. “The best chapters, I believe, are still ahead.” 520 E.
